Nyepi

Respecting local traditions is so important when travelling. We were lucky enough to experience Nyepi in Bali, Indonesia: Nyepi, also known as the “Day of Silence”, is a Hindu holiday in Bali that marks the beginning of the Balinese New Year.

Make Your Own Chocolate

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience of making our own chocolate in St Lucia. At the Rabot Estate in St. Lucia, the Make Your Own Chocolate experience offers visitors a hands-on journey into the world of fine cocoa production. Nestled within the lush landscape of the island, the experience takes you from bean to bar, allowing you to craft your own delicious chocolate. It’s not only fun but educational—guiding you through the process of roasting, grinding, and moulding cocoa beans into your custom creation.

What truly sets this experience apart is its commitment to sustainability. The Rabot Estate is part of Hotel Chocolat’s efforts to promote environmentally friendly practices in cocoa farming. The estate uses organic farming methods, and by supporting local farmers, they ensure that the cocoa is ethically sourced. Additionally, the estate practices biodiversity conservation, preserving the natural environment for future generations. This dedication to sustainability means that each bite of chocolate isn’t just a treat—it’s a step towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious world.

Observing Marine Life

The key word here is ‘observe’. It’s always better to observe nature from a distance, and way more interesting watching them go about their daily business in their natural habitat. We managed to find sea turtles in Cyprus by putting some cabbage in the ocean. Sure enough two sea turtles came along to enjoy the food! This was by far the most amazing experience I have ever had.

Parc Monceau, Paris
Parc Monceau in Paris is a beautiful blend of history and sustainability, offering a green oasis in the heart of the city. Known for its well-preserved native plants and trees, the park promotes biodiversity while ensuring that sustainable practices are at the forefront of its maintenance. Its serene atmosphere, complete with ponds and sculptures, makes it a perfect example of how Parisian parks contribute to the city’s green infrastructure, supporting both relaxation and ecological health.
